Your new role
As Scientist Downstream Processing, you will join the DSP team which forms part of the Drug Substance Development group. You will develop and characterise processes for purifying and formulating recombinant viruses from harvest as a vaccine production platform. The process will be implemented in a GMP facility for the production of clinical trial material and scaled up for production. You will work in collaboration with other departments and you liaise regularly with customers. You are responsible for developing the process, delivering study designs and plans, analyzing data and writing reports.

What you'll need to succeed
As the successful candidate, you have a PhD or PDEng in Biopharmaceutical sciences, Engineering, Biotechnology with at least 2-4 years’ experience in the industry. You have experience with downstream process development using DoE principles. The ideal candidate has hands on experience with DSP unit operations for example IEX chromatography and Ultrafiltration/Diafiltration (UF/DF). Previous work experience in vaccine development and knowledge of GMP, LEAN and Process Excellence are advantageous. Furthermore, you adopt a pragmatic approach to your work and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Finally, you work efficiently and always deliver work to a high standard.

What you'll get in return
Hays Detachering | Your initial contract will be for the duration of one year via Hays but is long-term anticipated with an extension via Hays or a contract directly at our client. You will receive a competitive salary depending on your education and experience. You will also receive travel allowance and holiday pay.
