Your new role
The SHEQ Manager plans, coordinates, and drives safety, quality, food safety and GMP programs designed to ensure manufacturing of products is consistent with established quality standards, customer and corporate expectations. Key duties are detailed below. Builds a quality culture and generates ownership of quality, (food)safety and GMP in all employees. Ensures new products and machinery are approved to company standard procedures.

Key Responsibilities are:
  • Coordinate the resolution of quality issues with the Production- / Technical Manager
  • Standardisation / optimisation of inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Promoting a culture of “standard operating procedures” as to minimise risk with regard to operation safety, food safety, quality and cost.
  • Instruct quality control / food safety philosophy to all personnel in the organisation.
  • Computerised quality system and controls.
  • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
  • Chairs the HACCP-, SAFETY-, Layered Audits- and Green Teams.Educate workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.

  • Develop and analyse statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product at lowest cost. Co-ordinate improvements.
  • Review quality reports and resolve quality problems to ensure minimum non-conformities reduce costs and prevent operational delays due to quality issues.
  • Ensure effectiveness of quality equipment and ensures correct calibration and use.
  • Develop or revise standard operational and working practices related with Quality and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Develop standards and references of performance.
  • Compile, store, and retrieve quality data.
  • Ensure correct and timely reporting of quality data.
  • Apply process capability and monitoring tools to assure quality into processes.
  • Ensure proper management of SAP Hold For Inspection Procedures.
  • Develop Quality System and (food)safety system procedures according with corporate or customer requirements
  • Prepares and executes internal and externally (Warehouse) quality and safety audits
  • Put in place communication systems that relay to all individuals performance, concerns and actions relating to quality.

Customer service
  • Be the prime customer contact for quality, (food)safety or GMP related issues.
  • Coordinate the problem solving of problems and the implementation of corrective actions for customer complaints / concerns regarding quality.
  • Cultivate good relation and establish credibility with customers.
  • Keep customers advised of changes and identify customer needs to avoid problems and advance their requirements.
  • Develops technical interchanges with customer for improvement of quality at both ends.

Plant Management
  • Participate as a key member of the plant management team
  • Makes sure all safety issues resulting in potential damage to equipment or injury of people are adequately prioritised, discussed and dealt with so that residual risk is minimised to acceptable levels.
  • Work with management team to give optimum plant results against key performance indicators and financial requirements.
  • Develop plant operational strategy as part of the management team
  • Target plant improvement plans to ensure long term benefits.
  • Develop and implement a long-term improvement plan for the quality and safety function inside the plant.
  • Participate in Corporate Quality and safety projects
  • Prepare information for reports and presentations to Europe/US
  • Cover for other plant Quality/Safety Managers if required.
  • Management review as part of the FSSC22000

Personnel
  • Supervision and support of all quality staff (QC lab)
  • Develop and ensure flexibility of the quality staff.
  • Prepare and document training schedule for subordinate.Review personnel performance to improve operation.
  • Schedule Department holidays. Co-ordinate coverage of responsibility to ensure availability of key personnel.
  • Ensure, with HR Manager the preparation and updating of the Employee Files, providing him/her the required data.
  • Project professional team image to plant and corporate personnel, customers, and visitors.
  • Set high standards for safety and housekeeping of quality areas.
  • Ensure that all quality staff act with safety in mind at all times.

  • The above represent the key activities of the role, over and above these there will be other requirements reflect the flexibility required in the role and the necessary adaptation to the site characteristics.

    The Quality Manager will be required to work closely with the BU Quality Manager.

Your Profile
The ideal candidate has:
  • MBO+ or HBO degree.
  • Post-graduate studies and courses in Quality Assurance Systems and Management.
  • Minimum 5 year experience in a (food)(packaging)production environment.
  • Good level of English Language.
  • Good level of Dutch language.
  • Good knowledge of computers and most common software.
  • VCA VOL considered a Pre
  • Proven track record in the field of food safety (for example audit experience in the food industry, knowledge of International Food Safety Standards)
  • FSSC/ISO 22000 knowledge strongly recommended
  • Knowledge of STOP observations – ability to train and motivate others
  • At least 4 year experience with Safety Management Systems, Risk Assessments or Safety observations and audit.
  • Corporate background preferred

Our client is an international packaging company who produces high quality packaging at their on site location of their key customer in Zoetermeer. The production side is an medical food/nutrition production location.
